about
Sink Or Swim was released on Fri 25th Feb on Philophobia Music.
The song is about my Granda Dod Anderson who left us back in Jan 2020. An ex-salmon fisherman of the North Sea, Angus, he fished from the nets out to sea and only fell in once in 23 years, the week before he retired. He lost his bonnet and couldn't swim.
He also grew his own award winning tatties, loved his snooker, his OVD and made the best pancakes. He chose his own spot at St Cyrus graveyard, up against the wall where there was nae draft. We miss him.
The song is my wee tribute to a great man and is about making the most of the simple things in life. Enjoy the sun on your face when you can, be nice to folk, fill your boots, 'mak a lang airm' he used to say when the biscuit tin came out.
I know an Anderson who knows the art of sink or swim
And abody to call and reel him in
He's evergreen, and chose to raise the bar so high
At Windyedge mak a lang airm tonight
We're asleep by half past ten
The fire and the rum have won again
And oh my god is sheltered in the dunes of Lunan Bay
An old iron sword cut through his heart down Calendon-ia
And all my life I've waited for the next Grampian View
I know in my time I've catalogued some things that spring to mind
Woah, Woah Yeah!
Woah, Woah Yeah!
